Day 44 - Townsville, Australia

Last night Mother Nature put on an awesome light show off the port side of the ship over Whitsunday Islands.  Lightening flashed through the clouds on the horizon.  Spectacular to see!  Here is a picture of the glory of nature.

After breakfast this morning we attended another lecture by Captain Warwick Conlin on the topic "Pilotage in the Great Barrier Reef - Part 2 - Pilotage".

This was followed by a lecture by Captain Wal Cray on the topic "William Bligh: His Career After Bounty".

The ship docked in Townsville at 1:00 pm.  Myster has had a craving for Moreton Bay Bugs and searched on line last night to find a place that served them.  We took the shuttle bus from the ship into town and set off for our search.  The temperature here was 34 C with 88% humidity.  After a few minutes off the shuttle bus we were both drenched in sweat!  Luckily we found Simply Tops Seafood Bar about 15 minutes later.  We ordered local beer and the Moreton Bay Bugs and sat on the outside patio enjoying them.  Here is a picture of our meal.

After lunch we caught the shuttle back to the ship to cool off.  We were puddles by then.

Here are some pictures of Townsville from along the way.

Tonight we dined with a lovely couple we had shared a table with at the Gala in Miami.  Great fun!

Tomorrow is Cairns.....
