We docked in Haifa, Israel at about 7:00 am and set off for our excursion Acre and the Crusaders' Kingdom at 8:30 am. Acre is about a 30 minute drive north of Haifa.
This was a 2.5 hour walking tour of the old walled part of the city. Our first stop was a viewing area which provided a glimpse of the part of the city we would be visiting. Here are a couple of pictures.
We then made our way to the Knights' Halls. Here are some pictures.
Crusader Latrines.
Knights' Halls
Turkish Bathhouse.
Next we visited an old mosque under reconstruction.
From there we continued our walk through the old town. Here is a picture from our walk to the next site.
The next site was the Templars' Tunnel. It is thought that this was designed as an emergency exit when they were under attack.
The last part of the walking tour was through the market area.
We then boarded the bus for the drive back to Haifa. Just before returning to the ship we stopped for a photo opportunity at the top of the Baha'i Gardens.
Israel is a beautiful country!
Tomorrow is a sea day...
