Yesterday we dropped off our visa applications for India along with our passports at the processing center. Apparently the High Commission does not usually process visa applications this far in advance of planned arrival in India. We had to write a note explaining that we would be leaving the country en route to the Indian ports on January 4, 2016. Hopefully this will all go smoothly. Our applications are now in the system and processing time is about 7 business days.
We also got an email yesterday from the Director of Guest Relations for Silversea in regard to the Silver Shore Luggage Valet service which handles the shipment of luggage for this cruise. Our pick-up date is now December 22. They will send a package of documentation to us the week of December 7. We are allowed to ship 2 bags apiece each bag weighing no more than 50 lbs. We replied to the email notifying them that we would be shipping 4 bags in total.
Now I will have to get serious with my packing lists. I want to divide the clothing so that each bag will contain a mix of my clothing and Myster's and a mix of casual, informal and formal wear for each of us so that if a piece of luggage goes missing we will both still have all the necessary categories of attire. Once the contents for each bag have been decided I will print an inventory of the contents. This will serve as a reference if something goes missing. I will also print a copy of the cruise itinerary to place in each bag to make it easier to find us in case something goes wrong.
I'm trying to dot all the i's and cross all the t's. I know that things go wrong no matter how much you plan. Hopefully I have narrowed the number of opportunities for that down to just a few.
And the planning continues.....
