194 Days And Counting.....

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we would be staying at the Mandarin Oriental Miami on the night of January 4 prior to sailing on January 5 from Fort Lauderdale.  Because winter weather can play havoc with flights, Myster and I were considering flying to Miami on January 3.  We haven't been to Miami before and we thought going a day early would give us time to explore the city a little.  So I decided to see if the hotel would have availability for the night of January 3.  It turns out that they do.  The unfortunate thing is that their most basic room would cost $700 USD for the one night.  At current exchange rates, that would be $865 CAD. EEEEEEEK!  We are not high-flyers!  The most expensive room we have stayed in previously was the Fogo Island Inn, Newfoundland.  That was about $1,000 CAD a night but it included an early morning coffee basket, all meals and snacks and was in a spectacular location.  The Mandarin Oriental is on the water and it does look beautiful.  However, I'm not sure it would be worth the money to go one day early.  A picture of the room appears below.
