A year from today, we would be in Dubai, U.A.E. for the second day. Once again, there are many interesting shore excursions on offer for this port. One that I find very appealing is called Night in the Desert. According to the description on the cruise website:
"Depart the pier via four-wheel-drive vehicle for the drive
on the tarmac road. Upon reaching the desert of Dubai, your driver
deflates the tires for the approximately 1.5-hour, off-road journey
through the desert en route to the campsite. Along the way, take an
exciting dune drive and stop to watch the beautiful sunset.
Upon arrival at the campsite, a traditional Arabian welcome
awaits you. An area has been set up with a 'shisha' station, where you
can relax and experience a puff or two of tobacco flavoured with fruit,
molasses and honey. Some of the pipes used are fantastic works of art,
and have a fascinating history. You may also participate in a camel ride
at the campsite, go sand-boarding, or try out a henna design on your
hands or feet.
From here, proceed to the Bedouin tents for a barbecue
buffet accompanied by traditional music and a belly-dancing performance.
Afterward, you can sit back and watch the starlit sky and moon bathe
the dunes. Your tour concludes with an approximately 1.5-hour drive back
to the pier. "
The henna design on my hands would be great fun! Doesn't the picture below look cool?
