The final segment of the cruise will journey from Dubai to Venice Italy. There will be two World Cruise perks for this segment. One will be "Music in Muscat, Oman". Details are sketchy at this stage. The last perk will be a Masquerade Ball in Venice. Masks and formal wear are mandatory. :) The description of this event sounds magical. According to the Silversea website: "We embark our elegant water taxis in the early evening for a journey
down the famed Grand Canal, our destination a Palazzo complete with all
the trappings of history and regalia this city has to offer." I have already started looking for masquerade masks. So much fun!
In addition, there are two shore excursion that seem like "must dos". One is a trip to Petra from the port of Aqaba, Jordan. According to the UNESCO website: "Inhabited since prehistoric times, this Nabataean caravan-city, situated
between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, was an important crossroads
between Arabia, Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia. Petra is half-built,
half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with
passages and gorges. It is one of the world's most famous archaeological
sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic
architecture."
The other "must do" shore excursion is to Luxor from the port of Safaga, Egypt. According to Wikipedia "As the site of the Ancient Egyptian city of Thebes, Luxor has frequently been characterized as the "world's greatest open air museum", as the ruins of the temple complexes at Karnak and Luxor stand within the modern city. Immediately opposite, across the River Nile, lie the monuments, temples and tombs of the West Bank Necropolis, which includes the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens.
Thousands of tourists from all around the world arrive annually to
visit these monuments, contributing greatly to the economy of the modern
city."
This looks to be a very exciting leg of the cruise!
